ISESCO Director General commends the contents of royal message by King Mohammed VI of Morocco to Chairman of Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People

The Director General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), Dr Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, commended the contents of the royal message addressed by King Mohammed VI of Morocco, Chairman of Al-Quds Committee, to Ambassador Cheikh Niang, Chairman of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, wherein he underscored that the greatest challenge facing the international community is the implementation of the Security Council’s resolutions supporting the Palestinian cause and states’ commitment to uphold these resolutions.

In this regard, ISESCO Director General stated that the royal message stressed the importance of Al-Quds cause to the Arab and Muslim Ummah, and expressed its refusal of any unilateral actions affecting Al-Quds as being both unacceptable and illegal and a serious violation of relevant international law and United Nations resolutions. Dr Altwaijri added that the royal message came at an opportune time as it coincides with the adoption of the Draft Action Programme on the Promotion of Islamic and International Support for Safeguarding Civilizational and Cultural Heritage in Al-Quds Al-Sharif by the Extraordinary Session of the Islamic Conference of Culture Ministers, held in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain, on 29 November 2018. He further explained that Programme aims to expand the circle of Islamic support to include international action; translate this Action Programme into comprehensive projects with holistic goals, implementation phases, and expected outcomes; and adopt Al-Quds Al-Sharif as a permanent Capital of Islamic Culture.

Likewise, the Director General underscored that Al-Quds Al-Sharif is subject to systematic Judaization, and alteration of its Islamic cultural and civilizational character, which requires effective solidarity between OIC Member States and the international community to safeguard the rights of Palestinian people and the Islamic world in Al-Quds Al-Sharif; work towards incorporating this cause in every Islamic conference; and refuse all attempts to obliterate its identity and isolate it from its civilizational surrounding.
