39th ISESCO Executive Council Kicks off in Rabat
The 39th Executive Council of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) kicked off today morning, at the Organization’s headquarters in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco, in the presence of Member States’ representatives to the Council; the Deputy Director General; directors; and heads of ISESCO’s specialized centers.
The opening session was marked by the addresses delivered by Dr Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, ISESCO Director General, and Dr Boubakar Doukouré, Chairman of ISESCO Executive Council.
This session’s agenda features the discussion of the Report of the Director General on ISESCO’s Activities for the Year 2017; the Report of the Director General on the Evaluation of the Organization’s Action for the periods 2013-2015 and 2016-2018; the Financial Report of the Director General and Closing Accounts, Report of the Audit Company and Report of the Financial Control Committee for the Financial Year 2017; and the Report of the Director General on the Member States’ Contributions to the Organization’s Budget and on Redressing the Organization’s Financial Situation for the Year 2017.
Other items on this session’s agenda include the discussion of the Draft Three-Year Action Plan and Budget for 2019-2021; Project of the Creation of the League of the Institutions of Teaching Arabic Language to Non- Arabic Speakers under ISESCO; Draft Amendment to ISESCO’s Organizational Chart; Draft Amendment to some articles of the Charter and the Executive Council’s Rules of Procedure; Preparation for the 13th General Conference; and the Date and Venue for the Executive Council’s 40th Session.
It is worth mentioning that the Executive Council is the second higher organ of ISESCO and is composed of one representative for each of the 54 Member States with extensive expertise in education, science, culture and communication. The Council, which convenes annually, held its first in November 1982 in Rabat, while the 38th session was held in October 2017 in the same venue.
