ISESCO Director General, FUIW Secretary General, visits Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University in Brunei Darussalam

The Director General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), Secretary General of the Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World (FUIW), Dr Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, visited today Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University in Brunei Darussalam where he was received by Dr Haji Norarfan, Rector of the University. Dr Norarfan briefed ISESCO Director General about the academic and research missions of the University; and together they explored ways to promote cooperation relations between the University and the Federation in the fields of common interest.

On this occasion, Dr Altwaijri received the Distinguished Leadership Award in Arabic Language and Islamic civilization by order of the Chancellor of the University, His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, in appreciation and recognition of his efforts to promote and defend Arabic language teaching, and publicize the Islamic civilization.

It is worth mentioning that Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University was established in 2017 to be the first Islamic university in this country. It comprises five faculties, namely Arabic Language, Usuluddin, Shariah and Law, Islamic Economics and Finance, and Islamic Development Management. The University also has six specialized centers, namely Centre for Promotion of Knowledge and Language, Centre for Postgraduate Studies, Mazhab Shafi‘i Research Centre, Centre for Research and Publication, Centre for Public and International Relations, Technology and Multimedia Centre.
