Sudan Culture Minister visits ISESCO

The Director General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), Dr Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, today in his office, received the Minister of Culture of the Republic of the Sudan, President of the 10th Islamic Conference of Culture Ministers, Mr Al-Tayeb Hassan Badawi, and together they discussed ways to enhance cooperation relations between ISESCO and the Ministry in the areas of mutual interest as part of following up on the implementation of  ISESCO’s Three-Year Action Plan for 2016-2018, in accordance with the principles and objectives set forth in ISESCO’s Charter and the duties entrusted to the Federal Ministry of Culture in the Republic of the Sudan.

Moreover, the two parties explored ways to activate the resolutions issued by the 10th Islamic Conference of Culture Ministers that ISESCO held in cooperation with the Sudanese Ministry of Culture, and in coordination with the OIC General Secretariat, under the high patronage of the President of the Republic of the Sudan, Field Marshal Omar Hassan Ahmad Al Bashir, in Khartoum, on 21 November 2017, as part of celebrating Sinnar as the Arab Region’s Capital of Islamic Culture for 2017.

In this context, Dr Altwaijri gave a presentation on the measures taken by ISESCO to activate the resolutions of the 10th Islamic Conference of Culture Ministers.

On this occasion, ISESCO Director General and the Sudanese Minister signed a cooperation agreement between ISESCO and the Government of the Republic of the Sudan to establish the Sinnar Regional Center for Dialogue and Cultural Diversity. Furthermore, an exhibition was held in ISESCO headquarters’ main hall that included a collection of books that deal with the cultural, civilizational, historic and artistic aspects of the city of Sinnar.

The meeting was attended by the First Secretary Chargé d’Affaire of the Embassy of the Republic of the Sudan in Rabat, Mr Al-Tayeb Omar Hassan Abdallah; and the Secretary General of the Sudanese National Commission for Education, Science and Culture, Mr Abdulgadir Muhammad Hassan Noureddin.
