MoU between ISESCO and International Association of Institutions of Teaching Arabic Language for Non – Arabic Speakers, signed
At the close of the opening session of the international symposium on “Teaching Arabic to non-Arabic speaking children: reality and future prospects” which the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) is hosting at its headquarters in Rabat, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between ISESCO and the International Association of Institutions of Teaching Arabic Language for Non – Arabic Speakers.
The MoU was signed for ISESCO by its Director General, Dr Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, and for the Association by its President, Dr Abdullah Bin Saleh Al-Obeid.
The Memorandum aims to promote cooperation between the Organization and the Association through implementing and funding educational projects, programmes and activities pertaining to teaching Arabic to non-Arabic speakers, particularly in the field of designing syllabi and curricula and training the educational staff. It also provides for supporting the establishment of educational centers and institutes, creating academic and research chairs at universities and supporting research works and studies in this field. Other areas of cooperation include allocating awards of recognition to individuals and institutions and granting scholarships to students and researchers.
This Memorandum of Understanding also aims to promote cooperation between the two parties to spread awareness about the role of Arabic in promoting cultural communication, and coordinate joint action between the relevant institutions and bodies.
