The Forum of International Organizations: ISESCO, ALECSO and ABEGS kicks off at ISESCO headquarters

The 4th Forum of International Organizations: ISESCO, ALECSO and ABEGS kicked off today morning at ISESCO headquarters in Rabat.

During the Forum’s opening ceremony, addresses were delivered by Dr Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, Director General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO); Dr Khalid Samadi, Secretary of State to the Minister of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research, in charge of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Kingdom of Morocco; Dr Abdussalam Al-Joufi , on behalf of Dr Ali bin Abdul Khaliq Al-Karni, Director General of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS); Dr Abdefattah Lahjomri, Director of the Arabization Coordination Bureau (BCA) in Rabat, representative of ALECSO; and Dr Salah Khaled, Director of UNESCO Office in Rabat.

The Forum aims to provide an overview about ISESCO, ALECSO and ABEGS: their missions, goals, regulations, strategies, programmes and achievements; promote coordination and information exchange between the National Commissions and the international and regional organizations; coordinate joint Arab-Islamic educational action to foster higher education policies in Member States; promote concepts of moderation and middle-stance in the framework of tolerance, brotherhood and coexistence; and support the role of the National Commissions in boosting partnership and regional and international initiatives regarding dialogue and respect for the Other.

The Forum’s programme features working sessions to discuss the following themes: ways and mechanisms to benefit from the international organizations’ projects; exchange of knowledge and expertise between the staff of the National Commissions and the international organizations; the role of the international organizations (ISESCO, ALECSO, and ABEGS) in providing education opportunities in Arab and Islamic countries; boosting Arab-Islamic joint action to promote governance and innovation in higher education, and foster youth employability; and support the international organizations’ efforts to spread a culture of dialogue, peace and coexistence, and reject extremism.

Taking part in this forum are the Secretaries General of the Member States’ National Commissions of ISESCO, ALECSO and ABEGS along with experts from similar international organizations.
