ISESCO participates in OIC Preparatory Meeting ahead of the First ST Summit
The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), took part in the Meeting held by the General Secretariat of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) at its headquarters in Jeddah, on 14 March 2017, to review ongoing preparations for the First OIC Summit on Science and Technology due to be held in Astana, Kazakhstan, on 10-11 September 2017.
The Meeting was attended by representatives of relevant OIC institutions, including the Standing Committee for Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH); the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC); the Statistical, Economic, Social Research and Training Center for Islamic Countries (SESRIC); Islamic Solidarity Fund (ISF); Research Center for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA); the Islamic Development Bank (IDB); ISESCO; and the Islamic World Academy of Sciences (IAS). The Meeting was also attended by the representatives of the Summit’s host country; Kazakhstan.
Participants examined the outcome document to be submitted to the Summit. The document has been compiled by COMSTECH with inputs of more than 120 scientists in various disciplines from several Member States.
ISESCO was represented in the meeting by Dr Tarik Mahmood, Director of the Directorate of Science and Technology.
