ISESCO to hold international experts’ meeting on developing Islamic art museums

The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (IESCO), in association with Wajed Kalliano Institution for Art Promotion and Cultural Exchange, will hold an international experts’ meeting on “Islamic art museum development” in Marrakech, Morocco, from 18 through 19 May 2016.

The aim is to advance the core mission of Islamic art museums, through capacity-building for museum exhibition professionals, raising community awareness as to the importance of museums and their key role in bringing cultural and civilizational advancement, and upgrading museum exhibition means and techniques.

The meeting will gather 20 experts from Germany, Italy, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco and Mauritania to discuss the following topics: “Islamic museum architecture”, “museum exhibition techniques”, “museums’ educational and cultural roles within Muslim societies”, and “towards a future vision to promote museums in the Islamic world”.

Dr Mohammad Younis, Programme Specialist at the Directorate of Culture, will represent ISESCO in this event.
