ISESCO/FAO Side Event on Living Heritage at Rio+20
The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) will hold a side event on “Living Heritage for Sustainable Development”, on June 20th, at the Rio+20 Summit, to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The event will seek to highlight the different dimensions of utilizing living heritage in promoting sustainable development, by showcasing the experiences of ISESCO and FAO in promoting green economy, safeguarding the Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems, and exploring local solutions in sustaining agriculture development while fostering cultural diversity, and maintaining harmony between nature and people.
H.R.H Prince Turki Bin Nasser, General President of Meteorology and Environment in Saudi Arabia, President of the Fifth Islamic Conference of Environment Ministers, and Chairman of the Islamic Executive Bureau for Environment, Dr José Graziano Da Silva, the Director General of FAO, together with representatives from courtiers taking part in the Rio+20 Summit, will participate in the side event.
