ISESCO and UNESCO publish a book on Education, Diversity and Social Cohesion
In a joint effort between the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), UNESCO Chair on Human Rights and Ethics of International Cooperation- University of Bergamo in Italy and UNESCO Cluster Office in Rabat, a new book was published in French under the title of “Education, Diversité et Cohésion Sociale en Méditerranée Occidentale”. This 319 - page book is the culmination of an ambitious project carried out by the three partners with a view to fostering dialogue and cooperation at the cultural and international levels between researchers and staff of education in six countries of the western Mediterranean (Algeria, France, Italy, Morocco, Spain and Tunisia). The project sought to associate research with joint action in fields relating to the national educational systems and their role in supporting the principles of plurality and strengthening social harmony and cohesion. The book contains eight sections dealing with the following themes: cultures and socio-educational systems; education, plurality and social cohesion in the western Mediterranean; education, citizenship and social cohesion in Algeria; youth in a plurastic city; education, citizenship and social cohesion in France; rethinking plurality in Italy; education and socio-cultural changes in Morocco; and education, citizenship and social cohesion in Tunisia.
