ISESCO attaches great importance to cultural and social
issues with which it deals from an Islamic perspective.
Thanks to its web site on the Internet, ISESCO presents
an Islamic data base which allows all those who consult
it to gradually come to a clearer and sounder
understanding of the true and concluding religion. By so
doing, the Organization contributes to the rectification
of errors and the removal of confusion which have
accompanied the perception of Islam, and by the same
token, enhance a representation that befits the standing
of the Islamic culture, the patterns of which are deeply
impressed on the minds of more than a billion Muslims.
In this respect, we are pleased to present this book,
The Languages of the Prophets and the Sources of the
Divine Messages, which comes in five chapters, dealing
respectively with : “Revelation in the life of
humankind”; “The Language of Moses and Aaron (PBUT)" ;
“The Language of Isa Ibn Maryam (PBUH)"; “Mohammad
(PBUH) and the Concluding Message”; “An overview of the
First Manuscripts of the Qur’an and of Modern Editions”.
Contemporary thinkers are no doubt aware of the great
importance of these issues. Research into the sources of
the Revealed messages and their authentication is the
right of each and all because the documents, which
constitute the sources of the Messages that were
revealed to the Prophets, do indeed matter to all the
peoples of the earth. By implication, the preservation
of such sources is the duty of humankind, as the loss of
these sources would certainly obfuscate the outlines of
religion and thereby lead to the dispersion of people
and their deviation from the straight Path. People of
virtue and piety are, of course, loath to accept the
idea of the loss of the Divine Message that has been
revealed to them by the Lord of the Worlds.
To this reason, it has been deemed appropriate that the
Islamic data base on the Internet should begin by
featuring issue relating to the Revelation, the
languages of the Revealed Messages in a diligent attempt
to preserve the religious and civilizational heritage
which is, indeed, the common patrimony of humanity, at
large.
Given the importance of these studies, ISESCO has
decided to bring them forth in book-form. On this
occasion, I should like to convey my thanks and
expressions of consideration to the authors of the said
studies, namely, Dr. Abdelaziz Ben Abdellah, Dr. Ahmed
Chahlane, Dr. Abdelaziz Chahbar, Dr. Mohammad Mokhtar
Ould Bah and Dr. Hibah Nael Barakat.
We beseech Allah to make readers from different cultures
derive ample benefit from the work and to make us live
up to the command of the Noble Qur’an : “ O mankind ! We
created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female,
and made you into Nations and tribes, that ye may know
each other (not that ye may despise each other). Verily
the most honored of you in the sight of Allah is (he who
is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full
knowledge and is well-acquainted (with all things).”
