7.1.2.2 Life Cycle
The infection of the adenovirus is highly complex. It first binds to the cellular membrane
receptors, then enter the cell by the process of endocytosis. Inside the cell, the virus is
released from the endosome and the viral capsid disassembles during its movement towards the
nuclear pore. The viral DNA enters the nucleus through the nuclear pore and remains in the
nucleus as a separate episomal state. The DNA is then replicated by the help of the early
proteins. The transcription then followed by the help of late genes to give rise to the
capside protein.
